Your own worst enemy

Going back to the spiral theory that Flower first brought to my attention, where we are all going around a spiral called life but as we move through life our goal is to get higher and higher up the expanding spiral so that when we encounter the same obstacle or challenge we are wiser (higher up the rung) and the time between encounters gets longer. I was sitting on the porch reading Grace and Grit,…

Loca in Love

Loca is in love with Sangi – they are just sick in love. They spent the better part of the beach running and jumping through the waves on Fort Morgan beach and then the evenings playing kissy face all throughout the house. And both learned to swim in the gulf! Loca was so proud of herself and she gained so much confidence out there. I love watching her enjoy the water and the sand! And…

In the company of girls

We headed to the beach despite all the weather warnings that we were in for a doozy of a storm and oh, what a difference to me, T, Loca, Wolfie, and Bam Bam. Well, actually, Bam Bam didn’t like it that much. We rented a house with B&K, Sangi and Baker and we couldn’t have asked for better weather or better anything for that matter. I had no computer, no cell service, no anything –…

Death and the living

It’s about minutes away from the real kick off of the Memorial Day weekend and I just wanted to take a moment and reflect on the holiday. Memorial Day is a scheduled remembrance of all those who fought and died in U.S. wars. Jimmy crack corn and I don’t care

Bayou Boogaloo is this weekend and they are putting up the stages down in front of the American Can Company. Down the complete other way, near the lake, is the Greek Festival also starting tomorrow at the Greek Orthodox Church on the bayou. Meanwhile, we’re headed to the beach. The rain is coming – but Jimmy Crack Corn and I don’t care. Neither does anyone else for that matter. I just got an email that…

Yummy treats at the green market today

The first picked peaches made an appearance at the market today and they are sweet and delicious even if they are small. I also got some hot tamales and shrimp to freeze. Then I got me an avocado popsicle – which was so delicious! How can an avocado popsicle be so yummy – dunno – never heard of them before, but now I’m addicted as hell. I also got some cherry tomatoes that were good.…

Why did the turtle cross the road?

I was headed over to the Green Market and a big fat turtle was crossing the road. Right then my mother called and I told her to hang on as I had to get a turtle back to the bayou, so cradling the phone to my ear, I picked up the turtle and brought it back to the bayou. Meanwhile, a mother with her kids pulled up behind me and yelled out “Good Samaritan!” I…

Seeking a baby

I got an email today from a friend who received an email about a family in Tennessee that are looking to adopt. Wow, I thought, okay anyone reading this blog, here is my official plea to you. Tatjana and I are looking to adopt any gender, any race, and will consider any age. We want a child! Who knew you could send an email out like that? Meanwhile, we are more strategically meeting with an…
