Bayou Bienvenue

Remember we went over the bridge and saw vast nothingness – just flat land and water water everywhere. Well, biologists tell me it used to be this incredible cypress forest that disappeared because of salt water intrusion. Another reason our fair city stands undefended against mother nature’s fury.

Mardi Gras Marathon – #45

This morning the Mardi Gras Marathon (notice the LaLa in this image with the wood columns) looped in front of our house – first the 15 milers came by and then the 23 milers. We used to get the 10 milers which meant we had the half marathon runners, which are a lot happier crowd. Musicians in the hood

We’re blessed to live in a neighborhood with too many New Orleans musicians to name, but last night we had the distinct pleasure of going to hear one of our best bands – Astral Project – at Snug Harbor (one of the best venues in NOLA).
