We’re famous

T likes to believe she is famous – cause she played national basketball – whatever – a man was convinced and wouldn’t take no for an answer that she is Christiana Amanpour – who she does resemble, sort of  – meanwhile others think, a friend still calls me Maureen, I resemble Maureen Dowd – red hair – sort of, maybe. But we want to be famous in our own right – damn it – not two-bit…

New Orleans best

G and I went to the Green Market yesterday just blocks from my house and bought more plants for the front yard, tomatoes, fresh baked rye bread, filets of puppy drum and lump crab, summer squash and a bottle of Pinot Blanc from Cork & Bottle – last night J came over and I cooked us dinner from all these delicious ingredients – YUM YUM YUM.

Green Market today – Hip Hip Hooray

Can’t wait to head down there this afternoon and get some fresh veggies and fish and bread – YUM YUM YUM. Remember to come on out Thursday, April 17, for the debut of our neighborhood’s new farmers market. There should be a lot of familiar faces among the vendors and the shoppers. 3 to 7 pm outside the American Can Building, 3700 Orleans Avenue. Here’s a link to more information, including a vendor list:  http://www.cbwines.com/market/

Sunshine on the bayou and giant brown pelican cruising over it – a crispness still in the air from the little cold snap we had while I was gone – tee shirt weather for sure (yesterday, a call home…

Homeward bound

I happen to like New York – I like the sight and the sound of it – I happen to like New York…..the hustle, the bustle, the throngs, all of it. But now, after a few days of it, I’m ready for the liquid valium atmosphere of New Orleans where you could marry a donut and no one would notice, and there are pelicans in the bayou, and people in tank tops in February and…

Winning the lottery

You know how everyone daydreams of winning the lottery? I was on my way to the office this morning before I leave to go back to New Orleans and I read on the front page of the NYT that hedge fund managers have made in the billions – seriously one made $3 billion last year, another $2.7 billion, and yet another $3 billion, BUT the article went on to say, sometimes they can lose the…
