So High School

A friend of mine made the comment that a mutual friend was behaving like she was still in high school. You hear this a lot especially amongst girls – so high school – but the truth is that nobody really changes much from who they were in high school. The type of person we are then is the type of person we are now. If you were a bitch and pretentious and snotty – there…

Nearing the 5th anniversary – and still sunshine on my shoulder

Almost five years ago I got the phone call that one of my clients had committed suicide and it still pains me to think about him and his life cut short. The odd thing was that I had been going through my daily notebook looking for something when I stumbled upon a page from a month earlier where he had called me and I wrote in all caps “SUNSHINE” because that was him. He had…

Biking through the hood

J and I rode bikes to Elizabeth’s this morning since the water was off in the neighborhood and we wanted breakfast. We rode through the hood taking GRSJ to Gentilly and over to Bayou Road and then down the back streets to get off Esplanade and then through the Marigny and Bywater to the levee – and there is something about riding my bike in New Orleans past the shotgun doubles and ancient architecture that…

Endymion downtown

Endymion is rolling Midcity and yesterday taking mom to Blue Plate on Magazine for delicious eggs with creamed spinach – we drove smack into the floats that were going down Tulane. How exciting! Today, we laid out a plan for our Endymion party – I called Downtown Karen Brown to ask about the daiquiri machine because I’m thinking Voodoo Daiquiris and Jambalaya. Duh! That’s a no-brainer – of course!

That’s what we talk about

Me and my alter egos were having a battle royale this morning in my head. One ego was saying, “I’ve been had!” The other ego was saying, “Give me a break, you know what the truth is.” Still another said, “Could you quiet it down, I can’t think with all this chatter going on.” It’s a constant dialogue with some shouting, some whining, some yelling from the rooftops – it’s so hard to stop it.

Out on the porch

This afternoon before Swirl and before the pawty – we sat on the front porch and here are some snippets of the conversation:1) They give you 100 coconuts and I bought the rest. I paid a guy $1 a coconut to decorate them.2) Throw her down and then after about 8 days send her back out the door and say, “Go heal yourself.”3) I don’t think anyone could sexually assault you.4) You heard?5) What did…

Throw down girl

I told J that tonight I was going to meet the person who I’d be having sex with next – ha ha – well G text to find out what up and I said I met 5 people I want to have sex with and am currently watching a woman in pink feathers do a striptease – she wrote back “slow nite” -then there’s the one who said she recognized me because she reads my…

Charlie’s Angels

Last night, when J and G and I walked in the party we were referred to as Charlie’s Angels. I was thinking about that show – doesn’t it seem so ridiculous – Charlie has his angels who are tough, kick ass hotties who go out and solve crimes and capture the bad guys. What goes on in TV land? Us angels are too busy being the bad gals and having a fun, we don’t have…
